Good afternoon,
The Houston UASI Planners Work Group is pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the next peer planning workshop, which is dedicated to planning for animal sheltering operations and other related animal issues. It will be held at the Houston SPCA on November 13 from 8 a.m. to 12:30. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m.
The workshop will include presentations from local subject matter experts who will speak on animal sheltering operations best practices, and it will include a panel of experts prepared to answer questions about general animal sheltering operations, different shelter types (i.e., co-location, cohabitation, standalone, and large animal), facilities considerations, and legal issues. Follow this link for more information and to register for the workshop: Animal Sheltering Operations Peer Planning Workshop Announcement. Or, follow this link to go directly to the registration site: https://bit.ly/2wGTPqW.
If your plans/annexes do not address animal sheltering operations, this workshop will give you ideas on how to develop one. If they do, we encourage you to bring them to the workshop and to take advantage of an opportunity to ask our experts specific questions to help improve them.
This workshop is open to the whole Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) region. Feel free to share this email with partners in your jurisdiction, agency, or organization who may have responsibilities for animal sheltering during an incident. However, it is important to note that this is a workshop designed to present share planning best practices and that is not intended to be a training on how to animal sheltering operations.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
