Good afternoon,
The Houston UASI Planners Work Group is pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the next peer planning workshop, which is dedicated to shelter and mass care planning. It will be held at the Houston Food Bank on April 10 from 9:30 to 2:30. Lunch will be provided, and you will have an opportunity to tour the Houston Food Bank after if you’re interested.
The workshop will include presentations from local subject matter experts who will speak on shelter and mass care planning best practices, and it will include a panel of experts prepared to answer questions about public health, medical issues, animal issues, transportation, shelter operations, feeding, donations management, and phone banks. Follow this link for more information and to register for the workshop: Shelter and Mass Care Peer Planning Workshop Announcement. If the registration link in the announcement doesn’t work, Peer Planning Workshop Registration Link.
If you do not have a shelter and mass care plan, this workshop will give you ideas on how to develop one. If you have a plan and would like to ask our experts specific questions, we encourage you to bring it to the workshop.
This workshop is open to the whole Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) region. Feel free to share this email to partners in your jurisdiction, agency, or organization who may have shelter and mass care responsibilities. However, it is important to note that this is a workshop designed to present information about shelter and mass care planning and is not intended to be a training on how to conduct shelter and mass care operations.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
