Training Opportunity: Chlorine Institute/TRANSCAER Rail Safety and Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Training

Sent on behalf of the Chlorine Institute & TRANSCAER.

The Chlorine Institute (CI), BNSF Railway, and Union Pacific Railroad are partnering to offer a TRANSCAER® Rail Safety and Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Training in Houston, TX at the BNSF Pearland Yard located at 8426 Kopman Drive, Houston, TX 77061 on June 19-20, 2018. The training is provided FREE to all participants. This event was originally scheduled for 2017 but was cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey. The new training flyer is attached as well as the registration links below.

Participants can register by clicking on one of the dates in the flyer (Rail Car Safety) or by clicking on one of the links below to register online. Participants only need to register for 1 day as the same information and hands-on workshop stations and leak simulations are presented each day.

The Chlorine Institute sponsored TRANSCAER Rail Safety and Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Training is a FREE 8-hour day that provides an overview of railroad safety and CI’s mission chemicals which lead into hands-on training on the various emergency response kits (including the Chlorine Institute Emergency Response A-Kit, B-Kit, and C Kit, along with the Midland ERK and magnetic patch) and leak mitigation scenarios.  These hands-on workshops are a great resource for technician-and specialist-level training for emergency response personnel. There are presentations on Hazmat Safety & Emergency Response and Railroad 101. Following Railroad 101 participants are able to walk around and through the CI Training Car to learn more about the anatomy of general service and pressure tank cars including protective housings; valves and fittings; truck components; safety appliances; jacket, shell and head construction; placards and markings.

Lunch is provided to all participants. Participants will receive a certificate emailed to them 2-3 week following the training.
